This instrument is used in situations where magnetic hysteresis needs to be considered. This generally applies to situations where absolute measurement of stress levels is required (as opposed to stress cycle ranges).

Static loads in existing structures cannot be determined by retrofitting strain gauges or other load measurement devices. StressProbe can provide that information when calibration data for the structural materials used are available.
