Mooring chains are used extensively in mooring lines for both mobile and fixed floating offshore facilities. The diameter of the bar from which the link is formed can range from approximately 75mm to 180mm.
Multiple mooring lines are used to provide vessel restraint to motions from any wind or wave direction.
StressProbe has been developed to provide a tension measuring system that allows both the static and dynamic loads in chain to be measured. The system has been successfully used offshore (installed by divers) and has shown a capability to measure both static and dynamic loads.
TSC engineers have extensive experience in developing systems capable of being installed either by diver or ROV.
The system offers major advantages over current load measuring technology.
- Totally non-invasive
- Can be installed onto existing systems without interrupting operations
- Measurements can be made at any point along the mooring
- Only preparation requirement is removal of marine growth
