Most structures are designed to take static load and it is often valuable to have some estimate of the load/stress experienced by individual members of a complex structure. StressProbe can be used to map the stress distribution in structures.
It can for example be used for measuring the distribution along a loaded beam or alternatively the stress at a particular site e.g. the flange and web distributions around a cross-section.
StressProbe can be used for such measurements but the accuracy will depend on the nature of the loading. In the simplest case it is necessary to have a sample of the steel that the structure is made from, or something matching the specification of the material, and to conduct simple laboratory tests to give the steel response and the zero stress values.
