Training
TSC work closely with
TWI Technology Centre North East, in Middlesbrough, in the development
of training and certification programmes for equipment operators.
Training and certification, compliant with EN473 is available through
TWI. In addition TSC provide in-house training for special systems
to supplement standard certification. This can also be provided
at the client's site if required.
CSWIP
General Courses
CSWIP
level 1 and level 2 and Lloyd's Register approved operators courses
are provided by TWI North. Courses are held at TWI North in Middlesborough,
United Kingdom and by arrangement, worldwide.
Level 1 course content:
Overview of NDT techniques,
electrical and electromagnetic theory, ACFM detection, identification
of cracks, weld inspection by ACFM, length and depth sizing, reporting,
data backup.
Level 2 course content:
Welding product technology,
electrical and electromagnetic theory, ACFM detection, identification
of longitudinal and transverse cracks, instruction writing, level
2 software commands, length and depth sizing, reporting, data
backup.
Both courses are 4 days
duration followed by a 1 day examination.

Network Rail Courses
TWI Technology Centre
North East also offer courses for Network Rail using ACFM techniques.
ACFM Walking Stick technology is an advanced NDE tool designed to
rapidly test rails for surface breaking defects and in particular
Gauge Corner Cracking (GCC). This course has recently been CSWIP
approved and results in a CSWIP qualification for successful rail
inspectors, a requirement for all major contractors working for
Network Rail.
TWI Training and Examination
has developed a training and examination programme based on the
CSWIP Document ISO-NDT-93R, for the automated NDT inspection of
rails.
The CSWIP document can
be found at www.cswip.com/cswip.htm.

Bombardier Transportation Courses
Many industries have previously
relied on inspection methods such as ultrasonic testing, magnetic
particle inspection and penetrant inspection. All these methods
have weaknesses - particularly when trying to detect shallow surface
breaking defects in real-world situations - where there is a heavy
reliance on operator technique and interpretation. Also recording
of inspection data is not easy and is generally not carried out.
Bombardier Transportation
have embraced ACFM inspection technology into their inspection
programmes, to the extent that TSC built a system tailored to
their demanding
requirements, and in collaboration with TWI have developed a specific
training and certification programme for Bombardier Transportation
ACFM operators.
TSC have developed general
ACFM inspection systems for use in several industries, including
railway, theme and amusement park, nuclear, space, underwater, military
and civil engineering.
