StressProbe Datasheets Available

StressProbe has been developed from the ACSM technique and is a new product that can be used to measure stress in structures. StressProbe is non-contacting and can measure up to 5mm away from the surface of a structure. The system is capable of two measurement modes, continuous monitoring (an alternative to strain gauge measurement) and residual stress determination. Specific information about these two measurement modes is available here.

Encoder Weld Probe Released

TSC are pleased to announce an innovative new design of ACFM probe. The new Encoder Weld Probe features a position encoder to provide a continuous position reference and the opportunity for rapid defect location, multiple sensor options for greater coverage and an option for multiple field directions. Other new features improve the usability of the probe whilst reducing probe wear significantly.

Walking Stick Unveiled

TSC have unveiled a product that meets a specific requirement within the rail industry. Based on ACFM electromagnetic inspection technology, the ACFM Walking Stick determines the integrity of rails by detecting and sizing surface breaking defects in the rail head. The system indicates defect severity by reporting crack pocket depth and is capable of discriminating between different types of rail head defects such as head checking, gauge corner cracking, squats and lipping.

USB to Serial Port Adapter Tests Completed

TSC has recently completed tests on a number of USB to Serial port converters for use with TSC instruments. This is in response to the increasing number of PCs, in particular laptop systems, which are being supplied without on-board serial support. Click here to download the associated FAQ sheet.

ASTM Standard E2261-03 Approved for Publication

At the meeting of the ASTM Committee E7 on Non Destructive Testing, held between the 19th and 23rd January 2003, the Electromagnetic Method Subcommittee E07/07 approved the draft standard "Z8846Z - Standard practise for the examination of welds using the alternating current field measurement technique". This was confirmed at the main committee, which met on Thursday 23rd February 2003. The standard was approved for editing and publication on February 10th 2003 as ASTM E2261-03.

The alternating current field measurement document includes the use of the technique, description of the technique and inspection procedures as well as a section on sizing of discontinuities and reporting.

ASTM standards are accepted nationally and internationally by all sectors of industry, and the application of the standard will give greater confidence in the use of the alternating current field measurement technique.
